an eye-opening and life-changing experience

The ‘Stand for Something’ Campaign has been an eye-opening and life-changing experience for me throughout the past year. It all started with a spontaneous decision to apply for the role and ended with me having made so many new meaningful connections with the other activists from different European countries as well as meeting and talking with a wide variety of people who attended any of the events that I was part of.

I do believe that there is power in number and that it is important to discuss what you stand for with different people and this campaign gave me the chance to do that; allowing me to learn so much more about the world and how to deal with it while making a change where it matters.

#Standforsomething young activists met during the EYCA Conference 2022

EYCA and Aġenzija Żgħażagħ have given me this opportunity to meet other, diverse young people and work together to make a change in Europe while also growing individually and learning about the world and myself

– Antonella Bugeja –

The campaign involved gathering young people’s opinions on what matters to them as well as writing reports about this and discussing them with politicians. Through this, I have learnt more about what it means to be a voice for other young people, how to deal with adversity and how to talk about your topics of interest with people from different backgrounds.

The closure of the campaign involved taking part in the EYCA conference, which took place in Brussels during the last week of June. In this conference I had the opportunity to learn more about how this association works while also reflecting on the campaign experience, remembering the lessons learnt and the beautiful memories created.
